A lot of people often take a photo then realize later that the picture is great, but the background is not that pleasing at all. But what do you do in such a situation? You definitely need to change the background. Replacing a bad background is easy. You don’t have to possess any special skills to do it.
If you have software like Movavi Photo Editor, then replacing your bad background with a good one can be even better. If you would like to change your photo background, then the following are tips to help you do so.
Check the selection tool and then press and drag inside the position that you want to choose. Some photo editors can guess the parts that you want to add according to the image’s contrast level.
And because of this, you will realize that areas that have a high level of contrast and hard edges will be chosen clearly, but areas that have low contrast and soft edges will need some work.
Make a fine selection
To make your selection fine, you should zoom into the photo and reduce the size of your brush by holding the bracket on the left square. After this, you should continue to click and drag to include parts of the foreground object to your desire.
If you still want to eliminate anything from the selection, then you can hold the Alt key then click and drag in the areas. If you want your selection to be great, it should have all the solid objects.
Select and mask
On your screen at the top in the options bar, click the select and mask. The part that opens up allows you to improve your selection and change it into a mask. You can press the View Mode option in the Properties panel to change the way you will view the selection.
Filter the selection
The next thing now is to refine the selection. There are various tools on your screen’s left side that can help you to refine your selection. The tools include:
- Refine Edge Brush tool
- Quick Selection Tool
- Brush Tool
- Lasso
Zoom into the photo to check the selection’s edge.
Modify the settings
Under settings, you can choose the following:
- Smooth: smooth the selection’s edge by eliminating any rugged lines.
- Feather: it makes the selection’s edge soft by adding a feather.
- Contrast: this one makes the selection’s edge to become hard.
- Shift Edge: it moves the whole selection inside or outside by a certain number of pixels.
Eliminate the color fringing
If you are okay with the selection, check the right side of the panel in the Output Settings and tick the Decontaminate Colors to get rid of any color fringe that is left in the selection. In the Output bar, select New Layer with Layer Mask, and then press OK
Paste your new background
The next step is to paste in the photo that has a new background. You should position it on the layer below the area that has the foreground selection.
After you have changed the photo’s background, you can print it to make the photo digital so that you or your child can view the images on the toy viewer. It allows you to view many images since it can display several images.
