When you hear a song for the first time, it’s unlikely you’ll find any immediate connection with it. For some people though, listening to a song in a certain place or with a special person, can create a lasting memory that you can reminisce about for years to come.
Whether you’re in a beach bar on holiday with your family and a catchy song is played, or out for dinner with your other half and relaxing background music is playing; certain songs can leave a place in our heart and when listened to them over and over again, can bring back the original memory like it was yesterday.
We all love to reminisce on the good times and it’s interesting to hear conversations between younger and older generations, as songs which spark memories for grandparents, will be completely different to those of their grandchildren.
To help bring generations together and reminisce on memories from years gone by, clothing retailer Chums, have created the most nostalgic playlist. Collaborating with members of the public, Chums asked people to share songs which sparked fond memories for them. From classics sung by icons such as David Bowie, to up beat tracks we’ve all danced to at a party or wedding; the playlist features a host of tracks you’re sure to reminisce about.
After a summer holiday with his family and a trip to Chessington Zoo, ‘Summer Holiday’ by Cliff Richard sparks memorable times for Ian Haywood. Another track featured on the playlist is ‘In the mood’ by Glen Miller. This song was chosen by 94 year old Betty Ogilvy, as it reminds her of the times she would go to the dance halls during the Second World War, to enjoy herself along with her friends.
Chums want to know which songs bring back memories for you and your loved ones. Share your suggestions on social, using #MemoriesInMusic.
